Welcome to the University of Kentuckys Instructional Laboratory (Inslab) and Kera Laboratory (Keralab). The Inslab is located in CB 313 and the Keralab is located in CB311. The office for the labs is located in CB 315. The office phone number is (859)257-9030 (or 7-9030 if calling from campus).
Hours Available
The current Instructional lab and Keralab schedules can be found on the internet
at http://www.msc.uky.edu/lab_stuff/hours.asp
These schedules may change due to demand for the lab. A current schedule is maintained and posted on the whiteboard in CB 313. The Inslab is closed during University holidays.
Lab Usage
Most classes reserved the lab for specific times. During the times the lab is
reserved only students enrolled in those classes may be logged into any of the
computers in the labs. For Example, a class meets in the Inslab from 8:00 a.m.
- 10:45 a.m. on TR. During that hour, only students enrolled in that class may
be logged into the machines from the Inslab.
Inslab accounts are restricted to students who are enrolled in classes that meet in the labs. Generally, account requests by others will be denied. Accounts will be supplied to the students on the first day of classes. The login ID consists of the users last name (up to eight letters) followed by the first letter of the users first name, all lower case. The initial password is the users social security or school ID number. Passwords must be at least 6 characters long and no more than 128 characters long.

Login name: brunanskt
Passwd: 123456789
It is important for the students to recognize that we run on a separate network than the microlabs, so the login and password is different. Also, the McVey server is not accessible from the Inslab and Keralab. However, internet tools such as Netscape and Eudora are accessible in the labs.
Students and instructors may not be in the lab outside of the posted hours unless a consultant (administrator or lab monitor) is present. Individuals with accounts may ftp files from their accounts at any time.
After you have set these up once, you will not need to again.
Consultants and Getting Help
A consultant (lab monitor or administrator) will be on duty during the hours
that the labs are open. Computer related questions during these times should
first be presented to the monitor on duty. After hours, please direct questions
via electronic mail to lab-mons@ms.uky.edu.
Food, Beverages and Smoking
Food and (non-alcoholic) beverages are allowed in the Inslab. We only ask that
you be careful with liquids and clean up after yourselves (that includes Kernels).
Per University of Kentucky policy, the labs are smoke free environments.
Final and Most Important
Thing
Please do not move the computers. Moving the computers may result in damage
to the hardware. It is a shame that it occurs so often it must be mentioned
but please do not write on the tables or the computers. If you are caught doing
any of these things, your computer access will be revoked.
